Works

‘Past, Present & Future’ is an open call exhibition for current and newly graduated KSA students, to celebrate five years of the creative agency. I had the honour to display ‘Dreamscapes’ as well as selling handmade badges and keyrings.

It’s Not The Way That I Should, But I Love You Anyway Folded paper featuring the words ‘It’s not the way that I should but I love you anyway’ extracted from the artist’s dream journal. Displayed alongside a delicate lamb ear sculpture, created using a willow frame and stitched paper. The piece explores the artist’s experience of healing from traumas through dreaming, as well as the fragile and painstaking process of recovering from the lifelong effects of living with BPD alongside other chronic mental health conditions. The intricate stitching through delicate paper conveys the daily struggles of balancing progress with maintaning stability for example being a productive creative vs facing the effects of burn out.

Dreamscapes continued The second painting of a set of dreamscapes gives insight into the my recurring dreams and nightmares. Landscapes, a tree and dog teeth each are representative of stories created in my subconcious and are paired with gold leaved recreations of drawings I have done in a liminal state. This peice was displayed at KT1’s fifth year exhibition ‘Past, Present & Future: 5 Years of Studio KT1’.

Mending The first two cocoons of ‘Mending’, formed out of steel wire and stretched, stitched fabric. This piece explores the artists mental health recovery and mending of her relationship with herself in adult years. The labourious technique of stitching delicate fabrics is representative of the time and patience it has taken to get to this point and the continual process of growth.
